水仙尊王Shuexian Deities

水仙尊王在民間的傳說及奉祀對象中共有十位,即「大禹、伍員、屈原、項羽、奡、魯班、李白、伯益、冥、王勃」,皆因祂們的生平事蹟與水有關,而供奉之,本宮水仙尊王供奉五水仙,俗稱『一帝、二王、二大夫』。

This temple enshrines five Shuexian Deities, which refers to water-related deities that guard the safety of ships. The five deities include one emperor, two kings and two officials.

夏禹 Da Yu

一帝:
【夏禹】黃帝的玄孫,姓姒氏,號文命,亦曰禹,為夏代開國之王。其父伯鯀,於堯時治水無功,為舜所殛。舜命禹治水,禹用疏濬之法治水,歷遍九洲,閱十三年,水患以平,受舜禪讓為天子,以夏為國號,史稱夏禹,台灣地區奉為水仙之首。

One emperor:
Da Yu was the first emperor of the Xia Dynasty. For his great accomplishments in regulating watercourses, he was worshipped as the head of the five deities in Taiwan.

二王:
【奡王】夏時寒浞之子,據傳他力大無窮,能陸地行舟,後為夏後少康所殺。一說奡王發明船隻。

Two kings:
Two kings: One is Shou Wang, who is said to have had great strength and could move a boat on land, and is also said to have invented the ship. The other is Xiang Yu, who is said to have killed himself by jumping into the river but his body remained erect in the middle of the water.

項羽 Xiang Yu

二王:
【項羽】秦末下相人,楚漢相爭時為西楚霸王,與劉邦中分天下,東歸時被漢王圍於垓下,後突圍至烏江自刎,屍體未倒,後世稱為「中流砥柱」。

二大夫:
【伍員】春秋楚國人,相傳發明水車,有功於水。『越絕書』稱伍子胥(伍員),「威凌萬物,歸神大海,蓋水仙」。後世因伍員進諫夫差卻遭賜死,吳國百性感戴其忠貞立祠祀之。

Two officials:
One is Wu Zi-Xu, who is said to have invented the waterwheel, and the other is Qu Yuan, a patriot poet who committed suicide by jumping into the river in an attempt to show his loyalty to the emperor.

二大夫:
【屈原】戰國時代楚國人,作『離騷』,寫『漁父』等篇。投汩羅江,死諫明志。楚人思慕,謂之水仙。    
配祀:太監二尊。
祭祀日:五月五日。

Two officials:
One is Wu Zi-Xu, who is said to have invented the waterwheel, and the other is Qu Yuan, a patriot poet who committed suicide by jumping into the river in an attempt to show his loyalty to the emperor. The divine acolytes include two eunuchs.
The Worship Date: the 5th of May in the lunar calendar.
